The “Terrible Mountain” Kitchen and Staircase Project – Andover, VT

This beautiful log home sits on top of “Terrible Mountain”, in Andover Vermont, and on top of that, we did this project during the snowiest November and December on record! The end result however is absolutely amazing.

Part 1 – The Staircase
Our custom staircase…we designed it in Sketch Up and our carpenter brought it to life in beautiful form.
Douglas Fir Posts with Wrought Iron Bannisters
Hand cut wood plugs by our carpenter on site
Douglas fir beams, pine treads and risers, and wrought iron bannisters make a beautiful staircase!
This was a perfect carpet installation and seamless transition between the pine treads and carpeted loft.
Our carpet installer wrapped around the beam and posts so neat!
They have the most amazing view out of that window…

Part 2: The Kitchen Remodel
We designed & built this custom hood and island so Niki could have it wrapped in plaster
Who doesn’t love an integrated soapstone sink with soapstone counters?
you can see the antique nails in the reclaimed beams we used for the hood
this inset cabinet door hides the dishwasher very well
behind this oak door is the trash can
the mitered corners and angle of the plaster create a stunning result
We love floating shelves
Even better are the recessed lights we put into the floating shelves
a custom cutlery divider built into the drawer
two DEEP drawers with a roll top tray
This microwave is a drawer unit!

Part 3 – The Generator (another aspect of Terrible Mountain living is frequent power outages)
